Among a raft of awards gained by the Bury Parks and Gardens Department in the 2005 National Britain in Bloom competition was a special mention of Burrs Country Park on the banks of the Irwell in Elton. Today it is a haven of tranquility where people can relax and enjoy the pattern of nature, wander by the ponds and streams or follow their leisure pursuits.
